Hello friends and fans of the After Purity Project,
It is sunny and 70 in mid-Michigan and my body is stretching toward the sun in celebration. I am also celebrating a new book contract! It turns out finding the right home for a trade book on evangelical purity culture is not as easy task. Too academic, some said. Not academic enough, others said. Fortunately, I have an excellent literary agent in David Morris of Hyponymous Consulting and Lake Drive Books who talked me through the the rejections and helped me make sense of that “this just doesn’t feel right” feeling. Together we persisted, took some risks, and I am overwhelmed that my book now has a home with Beacon Press.
I’ll be spending the summer writing and sharing bits and pieces with you along the way. Thank you for your support. Thank you to those of you who have invested yourselves in this project. My greatest hope is that the return on your investment moves you into a deeper experience of life after purity culture that is curious, content, and joyful.
Warmly,
Sara
